Kingmakers of Oakland has developed six major drivers to ensure school districts are prepared to heal the fish while treating the toxic ecosystem. After years of research, we are clear that school districts must focus on the recruitment, preparation, placement, support, and retention of Black teachers to help the healing process.
Critical to this driver is the notion that Black male teachers are 6.5% of the country’s teaching workforce, despite evidence that Black teachers’ impact on all students increases academic performance, attendance, and graduation rates for young black Kings. This informative session will share current national teacher data, best recruitment practices, and retention strategies.
This session will be hosted by Randal Seriguchi, Jr. of Urban Ed Academy and Chris Chatmon of Kingmakers of Oakland.
